2021 marks the first year that KSHSAA has integrated Unified Bowling as a way to join students with and without intellectual

disabilities. KSHSAA’s mission is to provide disabled students a safe place to be part of a team and express their competitiveness.

At Eudora High School, Ruochen Shen’s Life Skills students are directly involved with this latest development in extracurricular activities. Students like Addisan Naff, Sr., are excited to get involved with a sport.

“Getting to go to state is a whole brand new thing that I’m glad I could be a part of…” Naff said.

Our Bowling team got a late start to the season and just barely had enough time to get three games in to qualify for regionals. After regionals they qualified to go to state, which they were all really excited about.

At regionals held in Wichita, with seven other teams competing, the EHS Unified Bowling team scored 583 points and got fifth place. By placing fifth, the bowling team qualified to go to the state championship in Olathe, Kansas. The state qualifying team consisted of Freshman Braden McAfee, Seniors Addie Naff, Makenna Longacre, and Abby Waston.
