Dr. Justin Bogart is the new head principal at Eudora High School and a new member of the Cardinal family. Previously, he worked in the De Soto, Leavenworth and Shawnee Mission School Districts, and started his journey with Eudora High School following the retirement of Ron Abel, former head principal.

“The primary goal is for our students to reach their full potential: the one they see in themself and maybe even the one they don’t see in themselves,” Dr. Bogart said. “And to make Eudora as welcoming a place for students as it can be, and for them to be successful when they’re here. That will always be the goal.”

Dr. Bogart mentioned that he wants the teachers to feel well supported and for them to have the resources they need to make the school year successful. Alongside goals for positive staff support, Dr. Bogart plans to frequent EHS events home and away to support student athletes, clubs, and academics.

“It’s important that the kids know and the coaches know and the sponsors know that we are there paying attention with what’s going on,” said Dr Bogart. “I’m excited to see how the community turns out for our events, whether it’s a Friday night football game or if it’s for our performances by our choir, or band [or] theater. I’m very excited to see the visual support.”

So far, Dr. Bogart has felt very welcome since taking the job. He has had the chance to experience some of the events in downtown Eudora and has felt right at home. He also had the opportunity to meet with some people in the district.

“I met with teachers and students last spring and even if they didn’t know me, it certainly seemed like they were happy that I was here. They were excited to have me in this role and work with them.” said Dr. Bogart

Other than working at Eudora High School, Dr. Bogart enjoys playing the guitar and woodworking, which he has continued from his high school days. Although he has been busy getting ready for the school year, he has still made time to indulge in these activities.

In the words of Dr. Bogart concluding the morning announcements, “Let’s make today a great day… or not. The choice is yours.”
