The Lady Cardinals traveled to Tonganoxie on Jan. 21, 23, and 25 to take part in the annual Tonganoxie Invitational Basketball Tournament. The squad took on the Lady Chieftains on Tuesday, Jan. 21.  Sophomore Makaila Garcia was the leading scorer of the game, scoring 13 points of the team’s 35. The ladies lost the game 40-35 and went on to play Atchison on Thursday, Jan. 23. Senior Abby Richeson lead the ladies in scoring with 15 points. The Lady Cards lost the game 43-25. Against Jeff West on Saturday Jan. 25, Garcia and Richeson both scored 10 points in this close scoring game against the Lady Tigers. The Cards couldn’t quite pull out the win and lost the game 34-32. The ladies finished the Tongie Tournament in eighth place.

The Lady Cardinals traveled to Louisburg on Friday, Feb. 7 to take on the Lady Wildcats for the second time this season. The squad played a great first quarter and trailed the Wildcats by one point. The Wildcats slowly added to their lead, and the Cardinals lost 56-14. Garcia lead the Cardinals in scoring with 6 points.

The week of Feb. 10 was a very busy week for the ladies. They hosted two home games and also traveled to Paola for a makeup game. Eudora hosted the Baldwin Bulldogs on Tuesday, Feb. 11 for the second face-off of the season. The ladies showed improvement but couldn’t capture the win against the town’s rival. Junior Tierra Balluch led the Cardinals in scoring with 10 points. The final score was 55-34.

The ladies gathered up their gear and traveled to Paola on Thursday, Feb. 13. The Cardinals weren’t able to capture the win against the Panthers; the final score was 39-17.

Spring Hill traveled to the Cardinals home court on Friday, Feb. 14 for Eudora winter sports night. The game between the Broncos and Cardinals was like a game of tug-o-war. The score was tied at the end of regulation and four more minutes were added to the clock for overtime. The ladies played a very tough game but weren’t able to make it out with the win. The final score was 56-52. Garcia led the Cardinals in scoring with 19 points.

The Lady Cardinals have three games left in the regular season. They will travel to DeSoto on Tuesday, Feb. 18 to take on the Wildcats. The Cards will host the Ottawa Cyclones on Tuesday, Feb. 25, and Bishop Seabury on Friday, Feb. 28.
