Winter and spring are hectic times to anyone in choir. With contest and Platinum coming in the spring, it is time for all students to practice their hardest to earn a one for contest and have a heart stopping show for Platinum. The students will also be singing in Worlds of Fun Festival and Music in Our School Month.

“It is very exciting to see our students grow and mature throughout the year. I really love seeing each student change and ‘find their voice’.” Said Ramirez.

Choir Director, Ashley Ramirez believes that this years Platinum will be an amazing show. In Tuesday, Feb. 11 choir classes began their practice for class and all choirs Platinum songs. In March, the students will be able to audition for solo and small group songs in hopes to be in the show.

“It’s [Platinum] going to be a great concert!  We are pumped!” Said Ramirez.

Contest is also a big event that the choirs are practicing hard to prepare for. Since the beginning of the new semester students have been practicing for regionals and State Large Group Festival. Regionals is for the people doing solos and small ensembles and is going to be on Saturday, April 5. People who are taking solos include seniors Lorena Coleman, Michaela Hernandez, Alyssa Blaisdell, Samantha Carpenter, Claudia Moody, juniors Dakota Jobe, Chloe O’Dell, Sydney Gulley, Abbi Beckham, sophomores Carlos Rodriguez, Sydney Pickardt, Alexis Bryant, and freshmen Dayne Sabatos and Rachel Stockton. There is also a small group of girls taking a song or two to regionals and Primo and Cantori are also taking a few songs to regionals. This year we will also be hosting State Large Group Festival on Wednesday, April 16. State Festival will be on Thursday, April 24 for any of the small ensembles and solos that got a high rating during Regionals.

“It’s [contest] a great challenge and an awesome opportunity!” said Ramirez.

While choir students are busy with contest and Platinum, they are also excited for something new. They are going to be singing during the Worlds of Fun Festival. This event is an exciting new event for the EHS choir students. The choir will be heading to Worlds of Fun on Sunday, April 13.

There is one event coming up for all students of Eudora. All district choir and band  students will be singing for Music in Our Schools Month. MIOSM performance will be at Monday, March 10 at 6:30 PM in the PAC.

As you can see it is a busy time for choir students. All district music students will be busy this spring.
