To kick off homecoming week Eudora High’s FBLA chapter held their 4th annual mud volleyball tournament on Sunday, September 29. This year, instead of only Eudora teams, the tournament was open to all surrounding schools. This brought many more competitors to the scene ready to get down and dirty.

Set-up started earlier in the week on Friday with the Eudora Fire Department watering down the courts. Between the two volleyball courts, there was around 20,000 gallons of water used to make this event happen.

This year, there were 20 teams signed up and out of those 20, six of the teams were from surrounding schools. The tournament kicked off around one o’clock on Sunday with a double elimination bracket. All teams played hard, but only one team from Eudora could prevail. Team “Can’t Block This” came out victorious during the tournament taking first place out of all of the Eudora teams.

FBLA sponsor Angie Brown said, “We had the best weather in four years of having the tournament. It was a lot of fun watching teams try to be super competitive, and then figure out the mud is really restricting.”

Overall, it was a good turnout and a great experience for everyone. FBLA raised enough money to get almost all of their members to the state FBLA conference. Mrs. Brown, the FBLA chapter representative here at EHS, would like to thank Bruce Neis and Mike Baxter for putting in time and effort to make this event possible.
