Eudora High School has recently welcomed a new Physical Science and Earth Space Science teacher to our halls, Benjamin Moeckel. He is a high-spirited person who cares deeply about his community and family.

From a large district with significantly more students, Mr. Moeckel said “I like the small town feel, with the big town right beside it. I like the community when you’re here, it’s a town that takes pride in itself, it’s very welcoming and I feel like I’m a part of the community.”

Like a lot of educators, Mr. Moeckel is currently a student in post-graduate classes.

“I went to Fort Hayes for my bachelors degree and I’m getting my masters through University of Central Oklahoma.” said Mr. Moeckel.

Even without a Masters Degree he is a proficient teacher and many students already see him as an intelligent person and a role model.

Mr. Moeckel also cares about his students.

“The thing I’ve liked most about the school… has been the students. I came from a huge school district and hardly knew anyone in the school other than the people in my classes,” said Mr. Moeckel. “But here there are the kids I see throughout the building… It’s a big school but everybody knows everybody here.”

In our tightly knit community we know a lot about each other, so when we are able to get a new member it is akin to a gift. It isn’t common to have a new person adapt so quickly to a new environment, like Eudora. But, It would appear that Moeckel has already begun to understand our school and communities functions and hopes that soon we will also see him as a part of it.
