New Staff Profile: Payton Lazzo

Story by: Ashton Olson

Payton Lazzo is the new student counselor here at Eudora High School. She is a Kansas native, who attended Bishop Miege High School. But growing up in Kansas City, Lazzo says that the Johnson County life isn’t what it seems.

“Living in Kansas City was fine,” Lazzo said, “I don’t really like Johnson County, I feel like everyone tries to put on this front like they are perfect.”

She chose Eudora solely for the small-town aspect

“I’m also really excited to get to work in a small district…” Lazzo said.

She currently goes to K-State where she is finishing up her degree.

Lazzo wanted to get into counseling for the sole purpose to give back what her counselor gave her.

“I had an amazing high school counselor… then I realized I wanted to connect with people on more of a deeper level.” Lazzo said.

Lazzo, when not found studying for school, or helping students, is found in the outdoors.

“I love to run, and hike. Anything outdoors really.” said Lazzo.

She always enjoys road trips, as long as there is country music involved.

“There’s nothing better than being in the car with your best friends and blasting music.” said Lazzo.

Lazzo is excited for the school year ahead of us, no matter what it looks like. She wants students at Eudora High to know her door is always open.

“I want my kids to know that when they come into my room they can be an open book, they can talk to me about anything.” said Lazzo.
