Finding Fun In Lawrence and Eudora

Story by Brianna Hemel ยป

Coffee shops, movie theaters, Mass St., oh my! What do Eudora students like to do for fun? With Eudora being so small, most students venture to Lawrence to get their daily dose of entertainment.

Junior Madison Roether enjoys going to Lawrence and hanging out on Mass Street.

“Mass is such a fun place to go because there are so many things to do and so many interesting people,” Roether said.

For Eudora students, popular places on Mass St. include Sylas and Maddy’s, Noodles and Company, and The Granada, where concerts are often held.

Lawrence is more than just Mass St., though. Another popular place for students to go is Wells Overlook Park. Wells Overlook was donated to Douglas County in 1971 in memory of William D. Wells and Charles W. Wells. There is a picnic area and a short nature trail, but the most popular spot is the observation tower. The tower offers a view of Lawrence that you can’t get anywhere else.

Clinton Lake is another popular spot for Eudora students. At the lake, there are volleyball nets, a wide variety of trails to hike on, a park, and of course, the beach.

Sophomore Shauna Hoover has many peaceful memories at Clinton Lake.

“If you go across the dam during sunrise or sunsets, you get the most beautiful lake reflection,” Hoover said.

No matter how fun these things are, sometimes the most fun students have is on the way to their destination.

“Some of my favorite memories are of me and my friends jamming out in the car. It’s when we have the most fun,” Roether said.
