Kennedy Headed to State Wrestling Tournament

By Braeden Manley

The Eudora wrestling squad recently made the trip to Baldwin for the regional meet in high hopes of sending a few people to state. During the two day tournament, several of the teams wrestlers ended their high school careers being knocked out of the tournament without a possibility of making the state championships.

For two wrestlers, it came down to a final match that would decide their paths over the next week. Brothers Noah and Elijah Kennedy both wrestled for a 3rd place spot to send them to state. Elijah won his match, pinning his opponent and gaining an invitation to the Kansas state 4A tournament.

His older brother Noah wasn’t as fortunate, taking his opponent all the way to double over time with a loss by points.

Elijah will be the only Eudora wrestler to compete for a shot at the state title when he travels to Salina for his first round match on Friday, Feb. 27.
