The Cardinal Online: When and how did you get interested into art?

Ashley Brandon: My whole family has always been interested in art, so that really pushed me to pick it up as a hobby. On top of that, ever since I could draw, I have been.

TCO: What is your favorite piece of art you have created and why?

AB: My favorite piece I created in graphic design is the application I made for Third Planet or Acme. It was a 60’s style concert poster and I hand drew it.

TCO: What type of role do you think art plays in a society? Why do you think it’s important?

AB: I think art gives people a way to express themselves and portrays thoughts in a way that they couldn’t normally, and it helps relieve a lot of stress. I think that is really important for people to be able to do.

TCOThinking of your art, what is the most memorable story?

AB: I never thought I was good at painting, but a teacher told me that a piece I created was their favorite. That really pushed me to expand my use of mediums.

TCO: Do you see art playing a part in your future?

AB: I definitely see art playing a role in my future because I am going to major in graphic design in college and would definitely love to see myself in that field for the rest of my life.
