High School Code – Your not so normal guide to high school

Your Do’s for Halloween

It’s that time of the year again! Random Halloween stores have popped up around Lawrence and pumpkin flavored spice lattes have reemerged in Starbucks making girls scream with joy. I’m going to come right out and say that we are in high school now and trick or treating is a big no-no unless you are accompanying a sibling under the age of seven. I do not want to see you knocking on my door, asking for candy when you almost look like a full-grown adult. It’s embarrassing for you and for me. Plus I would make you twerk for it, which is even more embarrassing for you. So please, if you were thinking about trick or treating with your friends, stop. Rethink it and consider these other possibilities for Halloween.

First, it’s scary movie season so there is a plethora of scary movies out there just itching to be watched. From the Scream series to Paranormal Activity, grab some popcorn, sit down and relax. Grab some buddies and watch it with them, unless they’re giant babies like mine and just want to watch Barbie movies instead.

Another possibility is carving some pumpkins that you recently got at the pumpkin patch that you were too lazy to carve before. Get out your carving knife and some gloves because Lord in heaven knows pumpkin guts are disgusting and no one wants to touch that. Draw a little happy face or a scary face on your pumpkin and stab it. And if you’re like me, give up and throw it at the wall. Either way it’s fun and makes up for it, except the pumpkin guts part… Eww.

Last but not least, why don’t you hand out the candy for once. We are young adults! Unless you want to be like my old neighbor Mr. Jenkins and threaten kids not to come to your house on Halloween, you will be passing out candy sometime. Get some practice in, master your candy per kid ratio, or just look at the extremely cute children in their extremely cute costumes. That’s the only reason I do it.

So my fellow peers, I just gave you three fabulous ideas for Halloween besides trick or treating. On top of all of it, there is a football game in Baldwin so come show your school spirit if you’re not really into Halloween. Peace out.
