Newest choral instructor breathes new life into EHS Music Department.

Music is a way of life in the choral department at EHS thanks in large part to the choir’s charismatic and lovable director, Ashley Coffman. A naturally bright and happy person, Miss Coffman first met her choir students at last year’s Platinum where she made a surprise, guest appearance. Since then, Coffman has taken over the choral department and set about bringing her own spunk into the program. She hopes to emphasize in her classroom that music can be a fun, rewarding, and powerful experience.

Coffman attended Lawrence High School where she participated in choir and musicals, activities peaked her interest in pursuing a degree in music. Bethany College was the next stop for Coffman who continued to sing and act. Upon graduation, Coffman knew she wanted to teach in the area around Lawrence.

Music isn’t Coffman’s only love; the choir instructor also loves to spend time with family and friends, swim, play tennis, take pictures, and try new restaurants. An avid reader, her favorite book is Something Borrowed. Coffman also enjoys movies, especially The Little Mermaid and The Notebook. If Miss Coffman had to be a color, she would be pink and anyone who knows her would likely agree. Her pink personality is one that is bubbly, bright, and upbeat. Her sunny disposition also presents itself as the animal that best fits her, the dolphin. When asked why she would pick the dolphin, Coffman simply said “Sonar, duh.”
