The Lamar Hunt trophy is home! This trophy, named after the founder of the Kansas City Chiefs, is awarded to teams that have won the AFC championship, with their next stop being the Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs played the Tennessee Titans on January 19th, and the game resulted in a come-back-win of 35-24. Thus meaning that for the first time in 50 years, the Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl. The last time the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl was 1970, and now they are ready to return, with a little bit of Mahomes Magic on their side…

Teacher Jason Tharp is especially excited about the Super Bowl, and has major plans.

“I’m more excited than I’ve ever been in my life,” said Tharp. Tharp plans to watch the game with childhood friends who live spread out across the country. He expressed his excitement that the chiefs AFC win is going to bring them all back together for the Super Bowl game.

 “Sports really bring people together,”

“Sports really bring people together,” said Tharp. Senior Maddie Underwood agrees with Tharp.

“Kansas and Missouri are experiencing this together as friends,” said Underwood, “The Chiefs ends the border war,”

Sunday, February 2 at 5:30PM, the Chiefs took on the San Francisco 49rs to compete for the title of Super Bowl 54 champions, ending in a Chiefs victory. Congratulations Chiefs kingdom, we hope you enjoyed the game!
