There are students that come to
school with nasty coughs and colds.
People who come to school sick are not
only spreading their germs to others
and affecting their work, but they are
also prolonging their own sickness by
not getting the rest their body needs.
“I think students come to school
knowing that they are sick,” Senior
Ashley Miller said, “because they don’t

want to miss any schoolwork or any-
thing going on.”

But there is another reason students
come to school sick, and that is “early
out”. We at Eudora High School, have
the early out incentive where perfect
attendance makes you eligible for
a day off from school each month. It
also increases the chances of getting
excused from spring finals.
“No, the early out incentive is not
a good reason to come to school sick.”
Mr. Zlatnik explains.
If you are curious about the school’s
policies on missing school and what

will still qualify you for the early out,
check out the student handbook.
You don’t have to worry about
missing out on schoolwork because
most of the teachers post your daily
assignments online, and most teachers
allow work to be turned in late if you
have an excused absence.
Miller definitely agrees that

students shouldn’t make things worse
by coming to school sick. ,
“I recommend to those students
who are sick but do not want to miss
any school,” Miller said, “judge on
your ability and strengths and see if
you can even handle that day. If it’s
to much stress or to much ability, you
should stay home.”
