Story by Khloe Crawshaw » It seems like every year, new seniors are always getting asked the same question: “What are your plans after high school?” It’s a question that is asked all the time. It can either be dreaded or looked-forward-to depending on the student. It can also place unwelcome pressure on the seniors who aren’t yet prepared to answer it.

Senior Brayden Yoder-Mulkey thinks that the pressure to decide isn’t always a bad thing when it comes from parents, and can sometimes to be helpful when it comes to hearing what others think about your future goals and ideas.

“I have a lot of people who want to see me succeed; teacher, parents, and friends,” said Yolder-Mulkey.

Some students need the pressure of parents and friends to push them to make sure that they can succeed and make this hard decision. Senior Taylor Schmidt believes that while people have to start thinking about their plans early, there is too much pressure on seniors to have everything pre-planned out, and that can lead to too much stress on students.

“People need to remember we’re still kids and college isn’t for everyone,” said Schmidt.

The future can be stressful, but when it is finally planned out, the fear of being asked about it fades.

“When I finally figured out what my college plans were, I became excited when asked what I was going to do,” said Senior Ashley Fox. “Overall, I am excited for what the future holds, but I plan to enjoy every moment of high school while I still can.”
