Shoes are pretty much a necessity, protecting your feet from harmful things on the ground and keeping your feet warm or cool depending on the weather. Some people go above and beyond the basics and use their shoes to express themselves.

Sophomore Connor Schmidt is an avid shoe collector and uses his shoes to turn heads.

“I love shoes because it gives you a way to express yourself to the world around you without saying a word,” Schmidt said, “They also make a statement to the people around you.”

Although Schmidt has many pairs of shoes, he knows how to get them without breaking the bank.

“I like to shop mostly online because it’s a lot easier to get deals and percent off,” Schmidt said.

Famous Footwear is the place that Junior Autumn Foster prefers to get her shoes.

“My favorite shoe brand is definitely adidas shoes,” Foster said, “I have three pairs of the same tennis shoes in different colors.”

Foster loves all of her shoes equally, and she can’t pick a favorite pair.

It’s often said that fashion is a cycle and it’s clear that the cycle hasn’t skipped over the shoes of EHS. Converse sneakers have been a staple since the 1950’s and continue to be popular today with EHS students.

Senior Abby Hollinger loves Converse for their fit and versatility.

“I can wear them with jeans which is good because I think it’s not okay to wear other tennis shoes with jeans,” Hollinger said, “They just kind of go with everything. You can dress them up and dress them down.”
