Application Madness

Story by Brett Breedlove »

High school can be hard for a lot of people. Sometimes it’s the extra curricular activities, sometimes it’s the homework. Other times it’s the people asking you the big question: what are you going to do after high school? When it comes to your senior year you really need to push that plan into gear. Many seniors at Eudora High School already have, and it all starts with applications.

Senior Blake Reed believes that there is strategy when it comes to applying for college and scholarships.

“You just have to do your research,” Reed said, “If you go for the big ones it’s less likely. You just have to take it upon yourself to get out there.”

The application process can be very long and it may take more time than expected. Students just have to be motivated to get it all done. A key part of the application process is meeting the deadlines. Many students believe that the deadlines come too early and feel that schools don’t give you enough time to get it done.

“It feels that you’re kind of rushed,” says Senior Jeff Wallace.

With the applications, homework, and jobs, it can be a lot to balance. Students have many things going at one time, and it can difficult to manage.

“A little bit yes, it gets a little busy,” said Senior Tony Cobb.

He has been keeping extremely busy finding time for applications, homework, and his job.

It takes a lot of time out of their lives, but EHS students have to find a way to accomplish all these things when trying to move on to the next stage in their education.

“You just have to be motivated,” Reed said.
