cheerleading

On Saturday Feb. 13, Eudora High School’s cheerleading team traveled to Baldwin High School to compete in their Cheer Festival. The team cheered their hearts out in multiple events, including two individual stunt routines.

These routines consisted of Angel Garrett, Anika Jobe, Breeanna Moore, Cassidy Brust and Zoe Dameron. The second group included Zach Courbat, Paisley Labelle, Mariah Brown, Olivia Lehmann and Melanie Reese. One dance solo was performed by Breeanna Moore, one jump solo by Kelby Dressler and finally a team routine.

“The routine we did was probably the hardest one we’ve had. It was two stunts, a jump, a pyramid, and then a cheer, two more stunts, a dance and we ended with another pyramid,” said Angel Garrett, Soph.

All routines were scored by a series of judges on a 1-3 scale, with 1 being the best score you can receive. The team overall scored a 2, with both individual stunt groups scoring a 2 as well. The jump and dance solos both scored 1’s.

“We all felt like we deserved a 1 and we could’ve gotten it if we had included tumbling in our routine, but we didn’t and that got us a 0 in that category and brought our score down,” said Garrett.

The team members aren’t discouraged by the score and are keeping spirits high.

“We know what we can do,” urged Olivia Lehmann, Sr.,  “We don’t need a score to determine that.”

“I’m really proud of the team. We slayed. Even if we didn’t get the score we wanted,” said Lehmann.
