NEW THIS YEAR: The Cardinal Kindness Club

by Melanie Reese

As September comes to a close, most students find themselves loaded with academic and athletic challenges. With the additional demands of sleep and a social life added to the mix, most students end up suffering from stress.

Assistant principal, Megan Black and spanish teacher, Melanie McQueen collaborated over the summer to create a club focused on trying to help keep those stressed students happy, positive and kind. This club is known as the Cardinal Kindness Club.

The duo promoted the new 2015 club with three goals in mind: to create a positive difference in students lives, to show how kindness can positively affect others and to demonstrate how being kind to others ultimately helps students feel better about themselves.

“Sometimes we can all get bogged down with the stress of life, and sometimes, people don’t make kind decisions,” Black said. “We want to bring smiles to faces and make a difference in people’s lives.”

Black and McQueen started this year hoping to attract as many students as possible. After only being in existence for about a month, the club has approximately 45 members, and are eager to see that number rise in the years to come.

The two are hoping to not only see students’ lives improve from the kindness, but are also wanting to see EHS as a whole change for the better.

Black says, “By spreading kindness and love, we can make EHS an even better place to be.”
