Senior Trip-Class of 2014 Edition

by Brooke Abel

The highlight that seniors tend to have during their final year of high school is their senior trip. Eudora High has had this trip available to seniors since 1968. Teresa Carnagie, the head senior sponsor, has been involved in this for 14 years.

Carnagie said, “Not sure how they picked the location, as long as I can remember it was the Lake of the Ozarks, but the last few years that we went there too many things were closing and not enough things for the kids to do, so about 4 years ago, I changed it to Branson.”

Here’s a look into what happens on senior trip:

The bus leaves EHS at 5:00 A.M. on May 3. Seniors then will go bowling after being on the bus for awhile. They will have some type of free time every day. The first day they are there is when the seniors will be taking the famous old time photo picture. On Sunday the Class of 2014 will be going to Silver Dollar City all day. On Monday the seniors will go shopping at the outlet mall and then leave at around 2:30 to go back to dear old EHS.

Mrs. Carnagie told some of her funniest moments on senior trip, “One year a student thought he could drink a gallon of milk without throwing up, guess what-he couldn’t. It was funny to everyone but him. Mr. Sample playing mini golf and bent over to pick his ball up and split his pants. One year at Lake of the Ozarks, we went out in the boat tubing and had a student lost his swimming trunks. That was a sight we didn’t need to see. That student is now a teacher here at EHS. (Mr. Durkin)”

This year’s senior trip was May 3-5 and was just as much of a blast as the years past. This year however, the weather was perfect. Not a cloud in site!

Jacob Turnbaugh had this to say, “I really enjoyed it, all my worries of finals and the thought of finally graduating just went away, and I just got to have a great time.”

To this year’s juniors, go on senior trip. It is an experience of a lifetime that you will never forget with your classmates.
