High School Code: Your Not So Normal Survival Guide to High School

Welcome back and I hope you are all having a wonderful quarter considering the fact that it’s the last one before the 2013-2014 school year wraps up. As spring comes running in, so many events are coming up. SADD has had yet another successful dodgeball tournament. Spring sports have had their first games/tournaments. And last, but not least, prom season is in full swing. Girls have been dress shopping for an endless amount of weeks and their dates are still waiting until the last minute to get their tuxes. But never fear guys and girls because I have the perfect advice to surviving prom and or after prom.

For one, girls, do not stress about your date not asking you ever so perfectly. It does not matter, it’s a high school prom. And honestly, it doesn’t really matter how he or she asks you because it should be the prom part you remember. And guys it’s alright to be cute for once, OK? Other girls will fawn over you and your amazing skills on how to woo a date. It will make you more popular and you will instantly grow biceps and facial hair. But in all honestly, as long as you are going with someone that you will have fun with it does not matter if he spelt it out with roses or brought you Taco Bell.

Some advice for the day of prom: this is a high school dance, NOT your wedding. No need to freak out. Unless you don’t have a dress or your face breaks out into really bad hives and your throat closes up. Relax, have someone do your makeup and your hair, don’t get dressed until you’re almost ready to go. Also have fun, this is mostly directed at guys who are solid as rocks during dances. If you honestly think you are too cool to dance then why are you even here? Don’t bring your date down if they want to have fun because they will end up hating you and then telling everyone else how awful you were as a date blah, blah, blah. You know how people are. So just let loose, because whether it be your first or your last prom, it makes a difference in how you will remember it.

So there you go EHS. From prom expert to you noobs. I can not plead with you anymore than to just have fun and to let others have fun. Breathe, relax, and let go. Have a wonderful prom everyone and to everyone not going, your time will come. Go do something like watch a movie or eat Taco Bell. Peace out!
