High School Code – Your not so normal survival guide to high school

By Mariana Rosales

Hello all, long time no see. The third quarter is in full swing and the school year is drier than the dust bowl. Nothing really exciting is happening besides Valentines Day which is a dread for about 60% of the school. A day of self loathing and jealousy. But forget about people in relationships. How about some ways to keep busy and keep the year exciting right before the school year comes down to the close.

Seniors, this is a shout out to you, we are over halfway there! Don’t let the dragging days and excessive homework bring you down. Because if it does, you might not get back up. And that means instead of walking across the stage with the rest of the class you will bring the senior class down yet another person. Keep your heads up seniors because that day is around the corner and one day we’ll wake up and it will be the last day. But until then keep dreaming.

And nothing makes senior year more appealing that third quarter for the juniors. What is considered your hardest year of high school is almost over. But yet you have to look forward to another year of high school. Don’t worry though because by this time next year you are going to look around and scratch your head and go, “What the heck.” No matter what people say it does go fast.

But we can’t forget about the sophomores. The dust bowl really hits you guys hard. The excitement and newness of high school is over and you’re still considered underclassmen. All I can say is deep breaths, this is where friends are crucial. Do something with your friends to distract you from school because the next two years, not only will you have to worry about school, you will have to worry about ACT scores and getting into college. Enjoy your freedom while you can kids.

Last but not least, we have the freshman. You guys are keeping your third quarter quite exciting. Keep it up! Because there is quite a bit of time left. But there are definitely many things to keep busy and make this next semester and the next three years fly by fast. I initially regret a lot of things I didn’t do my freshmen year. I didn’t quite branch out as much as I wanted to to. And it’s definitely not too late. My biggest advice is to branch out and try new things.

So there you go EHS a play by play of either advice or just a little pep talk. Pour some water onto his quarter and bring in the warm weather fourth quarter. Peace out!
