Fall 2013 Season Bittersweet For Senior Volleyball Players

By Lorena Coleman

The EHS Lady Cards finished up the regular season 10-29 coming off Tuesday’s game when they played against the De Soto Wildcats on Senior Night.

Last Thursday, Oct. 17 the Lady Cards traveled to Turner to play Turner and Maranatha. The girls got off to a great start beating Turner 25-23 in game 1 and 25-11 in game 2. They then fell just short, losing to Maranatha 17-25 in game 1 and 21-25 in game 2.

On senior night, the Lady Cards lost to the Wildcats 17-25 in game 1, 22-25 in game 2, and 13-25 in game 3. This match marked the end of their regular season.

For some of the girls, this season of high school volleyball is their last. Senior Abby Richeson said that she had so much fun this season. “I love my teammates to death. I wish we could do it all over again,” she answered.

“It’s bittersweet because it’s my first and last year playing,” said Senior Michaela Hernandez referring to her time playing high school volleyball.  “I’d like to thank the coaches and my teammates for supporting me this year. They’ve been very understanding and super helpful,” she added.

Come cheer on the seniors as well as the rest of the Lady Cards as they will be competing at Sub State on Saturday, October 26 at Prairie View.
