The latest installment in The Hunger Games trilogy premiered mid-November across America. This post-apocalyptic action flick grossed $482.3 million it’s opening night. Continuing from the first movie, The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark live in the Victor’s Village in their home, District 12. The duo gets thrown back into the games for the Quarter Quell twist along with previous victors from other districts. The vicious President Snow sees over their every move and stalks Peeta and Katniss’ love, forcing and engagement, marriage, and a fake pregnancy. With a tricky love triangle and brutally graphic scenes, Catching Fire challenges basic human instinct and emotion. I, personally, cried 4 times just from the sheer rawness of the scenes which tapped into my tear ducts and shook my very soul. I would recommend reading the novels and watching the first movie before seeing Catching Fire, but it stands on it’s own as a great movie. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is well worth the ticket cost and I would see it in theaters again. Spend your holiday season with the best heroine and the hottest leading man showing this year!
