It’s a Very Merry Choir
By Dylan Sabatos
This year the EHS choir department is bringing back an old tradition and continuing a new one. This is the first year since Mrs. Zysk was here that the EHS choir department has gone to Crown Center to sing. The choir also spent the night of Saturday, December 7 at a lock-in at the school.
Recently on Tuesday, December 2 all of the high school choir students went to Crown Center. Although the choir came to sing, there were several other things the students could do. These activities included either going shopping at the stores within the mall or going ice skating. The performance started at around 5:45 pm and ended at 6:30 pm. After the performance students were allowed to go shopping and buy food within the mall till 7:15 when they finally left the mall.
“It [the Crown Center trip] was a great experience, and I really enjoyed it,” said sophomore Paige Rockhold.
Not long after the trip to Crown Center, the choir spent a night at the school. The lock-in began at 8:00 pm and lasted until 7 in the morning. While there, the choir students did several fun things. These included games and team-building exercises to get the students to better know one another. The evening began with a talent show. A wide variety of talents were shown off by both middle schoolers and high schoolers. These talents included poetry readings, singing, instrument playing, and other entertaining and funny things. After the talent show, the middle schoolers left and the high schoolers played hide-and-seek. Soon after the two rounds of hide and seek were over, the students gathered into the PAC and watched Pitch Perfect. Then came a fun game of dodgeball. The choir then headed back to the PAC and did several team-building and music based things and continued these team building games in the commons.
“We should do these things more often because having fun and singing helped me bond even more with people I thought I knew well,” said freshman Katherine Rosewicz.
The choir had been practicing hard for their performances, so it was great experience for choir members to be able to relax and have fun with others while being able to get to know one another better.
