Review: Dangerous: The Double Album

Story By: Isabelle Hamilton

Country music singer-songwriter Morgan Wallen is influenced all over the place from Nickelback to Lil Wayne. In 2021, Wallen came out with an album called “Dangerous: The Double Album” on Jan. 8, 2021. His voice can be abrasive like the bottom-shelf liquor he sings about.

Wallen auditioned for “The Voice” in 2014. The judges called the aspiring country singer’s vocal tone “as manly as it gets.” He gained fame in Nashville by baring his soul on songs like “Cover Me Up.”

Wallen’s album  “Dangerous: The Double Album” has 30 songs, two discs, and two modes: the rowdy redneck raising hell in the boondocks and the downhome romantic dreaming of his town piece of sky.

“Something about the way she kissed me tells me she loves Eastern Tennessee,” Wallen sings in “Sand in my Boots.” If Wallen was a young male in pursuit of your daughter/sister you would know they are “double trouble” as in “The Double Album.”

Wallen has charmed the majority of mainstream country music and has become one of the most popular artists at the moment.

“Sand in my Boots” is a touching track that makes you think. “Cover Me Up” is another favorite with its upbeat tempo and joyous feeling Wallen makes with his songs. “Somebody’s Problem”, it’s more of a calm song having Wallen step back and slow down. Altogether with Wallen’s smart lyricism and catchy instrumentals, “Dangerous: The Double Album” is a superb country album.
