Wendy’s, Casey’s, High5 added to Nottingham plan

Story by Caven Denham

The Nottingham plans continue to grow as construction continues. The city plans to improve the surrounding roads and development, spending roughly two million dollars. The Nottingham project is expecting Casey’s, Wendy’s, and High5 to plan on having their buildings on the land. This development can completely change the landscape and lifestyle of the Eudora people. With this development being so large in land size, it gives multiple opportunities for other businesses to come in and thrive.

Development will begin late Winter and into Spring. While the development grows, Church Street is going to be closed from 15th to 14th Street. This will cause many problems through Eudora, as Church Street is the busiest road in town and blocking it off from Gene’s to Kwik Shop will make getting onto K-10 even more difficult.

“The goal is to keep Church Street open and clear for traffic to flow freely across town and through to K-10,” said City Manager Barack Matite.

The Eudora Commission is wanting a wide variety of businesses in this upcoming development. For example, the commission wants more places to eat, shop, and entertainment for all ages, and eliminate the need of going out of town for shopping. The goal of the Eudora commission is to bring more people to Eudora to do their shopping. .

“All the buildings have not been accounted for yet but plan to be before the finishing of the complex,” said Matite.

Many businesses that are already in Eudora plan to move to the new development to expand their business. Places such as Zeb’s Coffee Shop, and Twill Boutique are speculative businesses that could move to the new complex for expansion and growth of their business, but nothing is fully said yet.

The Nottingham development is here to help Eudora expand and let business start and give the community more chances to grow. The plan for Nottingham over all is to help the Eudora thrive and bring the community together.
