Feeling the Chemistry at EHS:
A brief explanation of the life of Eudora High Science teacher, Mrs. Pruitt.

“You better get off my property, or I’m gonna call the cops and get my shotgun!”

This isn’t something most people hear while spending time doing their hobbies. Eudora High’s Morning Pruitt, however, has heard the previous sentence yelled at her while geocaching with her son. This, along with completing puzzles, are some of the brain-teasing and adventurous activities that this member of the Science Department spends her time on.

Mrs. Pruitt has been a science teacher at Eudora High since the 2010-2011 school year, and heads the Chemistry I and II, and Physics classes. By observing the students she teaches, Pruitt says the dynamic at EHS is very similar to that of Osawatomie High, where she graduated.

After high school, Pruitt attended Pittsburg State University, and studied science. The urge to become a teacher grew while attending college here. Pruitt participated in GED tutoring for the people of Pittsburg; she enjoyed this a lot, and was quite good at it. She went on to receive a Bachelors in Science in Education from PSU, and continued in pursuing her career in teaching.

Pruitt started her teaching journey at Shawnee Mission East High School, teaching various science courses.

“The time commitment was a lot different than I expected it to be, but I liked it,” Pruitt says.

Pruitt is now married to her husband, Joe, and has an adorable son named Quinn.

If you’re looking to expand your mental breadth and maybe learn a little something about science, head to room E106. Mrs. Pruitt can teach you all there is to offer. But, does she know any jokes about Sodium? Na.
