Fall Activities Wrapup

Story by Bree Moore »

Fall Sports are coming to an end. This month, we can look back at all the great accomplishments that have been made so far and all the memories that were made. Great work Cardinals, and stay tuned for the upcoming winter sports season.

Football:
Last Game: Oct. 27 at Desoto

“The best thing that I remembered from football season this year was before the games Mr. Durkin would come in and ‘preach’ to us building our confidence and getting us riled up for the games,” said Kaiden Horting, Jr.

Soccer:
Last Game: Regionals Oct. 24 at Tonganoxie

“I would say my favorite memory from soccer season was when we were playing Tonganoxie for JV, and it was a home game and we were expecting them to be pretty good. So we came out on the field with a sort of low slow start then Garrett Folks scored a goal with an amazing header. That goal that was made hyped us up and we started scoring a bunch. It was the best game we ever played. The final score was 5-0,” said Dylan Meier, Frosh.

Volleyball:
Last Game: Sub State Oct. 21 at Bishop Miege

“My favorite memory from Volleyball season was when we played badminton the whole practice, the team had lots of fun and shared lots of laughs that day, and had a great team bonding time. I also remember after practice Mia Manley played ‘JuJu On That Beat’ and danced for everyone in the locker room and we all had a blast,” said Riley Foltz, Jr.

XC:
Last Event: State Oct. 28 at Wamego

Senior Noah Katzenmeier advanced to state and placed 37th.

“I think my favorite memory was probably when we ran at Anderson County. We ran pretty well, and it was our first race of the year. We knew things would be close between us and Baldwin, and when we heard that we had one at the awards ceremony, the whole team stood up and got so excited. I couldn’t help but smile because it was the first time Eudora had taken home a plaque from that meet, ”said Noah Katzenmeier, Sr.

Cheer and Dance:
Eudora Elite Cheer and Dance Festival Nov. 4 at the EHS Gym

“I’m really excited for our teams to showcase our hard work at Festival. I’m also really excited for the dance coaches, as this is their 10th year coaching together,” said Loralei Gilbert, Jr.

“What I am most excited about is our bomb performance, we have worked really hard and I feel that we are going to kill it on the mat and I can’t wait to receive that 1 and share the special moment with the team,” said Jayce Andrews, Soph.

Scholars Bowl:
Last Meet: JV Oct. 28 at Spring Hill and V Oct. 20th at Bonner Springs

“We won our first meet against Bonner Springs in total points and record, we were undefeated. I would say that our team is doing great so far and ready to see what the rest of the season brings,” said Weston Trefs, Sr.

Next Meet: Nov. 6th at Lansing JV Nov. 7th at Wellsville

Choir and Band:

Last Event: Choir Oct. 16 Fall Concert in the EHS PAC, Band KBA Marching Festival Oct. 28 at Washburn University

“I think our band is doing amazing this year, I am really proud of how far we have came already but the best is when we were at central states and we were waiting for our sore to be announced and they said ‘Eudora High School superior 1’ that was definitely a proud moment for all of us this year,” said Holly Vesecky, Jr.

“So far choir is going great, this year we have some pretty challenging musical pieces that require rehearsals outside of class but once it’s all put together and memorized, it sounds so great, and it’s so rewarding to hear how far you’ve come. When we first received the pieces I thought, ‘Oh no this is gonna be a lot of work’ and I was right. In the end it was so worth it when it came time for our fall concert because we sounded so professional and it was beautiful,” said Tasia Hill, Jr.

Next Event: Nov. 4th NEKMEA District Auditions Band and Choir at Olathe East High School
