Memes are one of the largest internet trends we see today. Everywhere we look, we see some form of meme, mocking one thing or another, or ironic observations, just to name a few. With so many memes on the internet, how does that impact students?

Some students simply choose to ignore memes.

“I don’t really look at them,” said Peyton Garvin, Sr.

With that being said, those who don’t look at memes likely aren’t affected by them.

Some students believe that their taste in humor has changed because of their exposure to memes.

“Memes are great,” said Devon Moncrief, Fr. “Over the years, my tastes changed.”

Alex Lowe, Jr, agrees, stating “It changed my sense of humor.”

Students also find certain memes humorous or entertaining to look at. Some range from subtle  humor to more inappropriate and even controversial subjects.

“I like minecraft memes,” said Freshman Tanner Greene.

Others also find memes funny when they can be seen in normal life.

“Dabbing is funny,” said Karter Haskett, Frosh., citing the 2016 trend that took the world by storm.

Perhaps the largest impact memes have on students is how they  made them more accepting.

“I don’t get offended as easily anymore,” said Lowe. “I appreciate different things.”
