It’s 80 degrees in October? Usually with the coming of fall comes cooler, colder weather. But this October seems to be much different than years past. In Kansas, you can usually expect the weather to be a cool 60-70 degrees throughout October. Last month, though, brought temperatures of up to 87 degrees in some parts of Kansas.

Students at Eudora High School have a variety of opinions on the unusually warm weather. Some students like Sophomore Mara Oleson enjoy the warm weather.

“I like it,” Oleson said, “Warm weather is good weather!”

There are other students, though, who do not particularly care for the 80 degree weather. They believe that it is time to move on to fall and that people should embrace the cooler weather.

“I think summer is over, let the cold roll in,” said Sophomore Mia Manley.

Some students, like Sophomore Ben Posch for example, disapprove of the weather so much, that they are thinking beyond autumn and on ahead to winter.

“It’s time for sweater weather, you know?” Posch said.

The warm weather in Kansas could be the result of global warming. Meteorologists from NASA have tracked the data, noting that the Earth’s average temperature has risen 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit since 1880. Scientists at NASA believe that the rise in temperatures will continue to increase from a global average of 57 degrees to 59 degrees by the year 2050.
