Students in the student section

Some students rarely get the high school experience of cheering in the student section. This is the case for students who are tasked with a different activity during the game and don’t get the opportunity to be involved with the crowd. Others get to experience every game and socialize with others.
Basketball player Jake Haney, Soph. doesn’t get to join the students because he is on the court playing. Haney wishes he could stand in the student section and be part of ‘the hype’ and to feel the thrill of being in a group that is positively focused on one thing.
“I love knowing that the student section is there, cheering the team on,” said Haney “It helps us play harder and make good plays as a team.”
However, Haney has experienced standing in the student section before and says that it was very fun to be part of something so high energy and to experience how much school and team spirit our school has. Haney thinks that the student section is something special to our school because it’s like no other school. We as a school are unique in our own way with how we cheer on our Cardinals to victory.
“The student section gives the team pride. We love having everybody there and cheering us on. It means that our team has the most spirit,” said Haney.
Not everyone stands up in the student section, but can cheer sitting down too, to get the game rolling.
Abby Evans, Jr., attends as many games as she can but doesn’t always stand to keep the crowd going. Evans says she can see the game way better from the top because there are no heads in the way. She is not a fan of too many bodies all over the place. Standing that long is tiring, and students often exercise their option to sit.
“The student section means family. We are all here for one reason and that is to support the athletes and what they love to do,” said Evans.
Clayton Faircloth, Sr., attends every game dressed in the theme for the night ready to cheer on his Eudora Cardinals. As a Senior this year, Faircloth encourages other classes to not be afraid to get loud in the crowd and jump up and cheer. Being able to attend every game for him is something he looks forward to every single game day.
“It’s always fun to be in the student section because it’s fun to see people enjoy the cheers we do and getting to spend time with my Cardinal family,” said Faircloth. “It’s a blast to be considered ‘one of the leaders’. It’s a time to go crazy and just enjoy the game.”
