Night of Fright
Story by Phillip Pyle
Nothing is better than a good ol’ fashioned scare, right? That’s what multiple students had in mind when they paid admission for the 4th Annual SADD Haunted House on Saturday, Oct. 10 at EHS.
The haunted house had 12 rooms, including a circus-themed room, a marionette room, and many more. The event ran from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., luring in high schoolers looking for something to do on their Saturday night.
Jasmine Thevarajoo, Jr., who has been an actor in the haunted house for three years, has always played a scary role in the annual show. This year she was a possessed doll in the marionette room, creating screams and horror for the onlookers. Thevarajoo described the typical student response to her acting:
“For sure, screaming and running away.”
Going through a haunted house can be scary alone, so most chose to go through in groups. Nicole Whitten, Soph., went through with four other people, hoping that it would lessen the scare factor. Although this method helped, it did not completely subside the fright. Nicole found the circus room to be very nerve-wracking because of her phobia of clowns.
“To me it was really scary but the costumes looked fantastic,” said Nicole Whitten.
Once again, the SADD Haunted House was a success, reeling in high schoolers for a night of fun and terror.
