Review: Lightyear
Story By: Bella Johnson
“Lightyear” is the first theatrical release for Pixar since “Toy Story 4” due to COVID-19 regulations and restrictions. “Lightyear” could’ve been better because I felt like in the beginning everything was just everywhere and nothing really made sense but in the end, it came together.
“Lightyear” is about Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear, voiced by Chris Evans, and all of his adventures. Following a crashed and disabled ship Buzz and his captain Alisha Hawthorne are tasked with testing a fuel to see if it is stable enough to reach hyperspeed to go home. Buzz is dead set on finishing the mission above all literally squandering decades away in a whirlwind of events in the first 25 minutes of the film. I think it could’ve been better because the plot wasn’t there in the beginning and then it slowly developed and it was just hard to understand what was going on.
Junior Bailey Shoemaker said, “I would rate it 3.5/5 stars because the plot wasn’t really there. The movie was more aimed at kids and I feel like I would’ve liked it more if it was aimed at older people.”
“They made it kind of like star wars and that’s a part I didn’t like about it because they are two separate movies they shouldn’t combine those two together,” said Shoemaker.
Overall this movie was a good movie. I would recommend watching it but I probably won’t watch it a second time.
