New Staff: Nathan Coulson
Story By: Maxwell Jankowski
Nathan Coulson, a former business and science teacher, has been hired at Eudora to teach woodshop. Mr. Coulson is high-spirited and cares about his students. His goal as a teacher is to help woodshop students learn and grow as individuals.
Mr. Coulson said both his parents were teachers and he never saw himself doing it but once the opportunity came he decided to take a job in education.
“Growing up, we were big, do-it-yourself people, if there was a project around the house we were doing it,” said Mr. Coulson.
He said that was a big part of making his decision to come and teach woodshop at Eudora, as well as taking a manager position at a lumber store before he became a teacher.
Coming from a small school district in rural Missouri, Mr. Coulson mentioned how many great things he heard about Eudora, “People I never met, when they’d hear me telling family, friends where I was going to, just immediately walked up and said just how wonderful the community and how wonderful the district is.”
Starting the year at EHS, Mr. Coulson says that the community at Eudora differs a lot from other districts he’s taught at.
“Let’s start off with it’s a lot larger,” said Mr. Coulson.
Compared to the school he used to teach at, Mr. Coulson mentioned that Eudora has a lot more community involvement with academics.
“I’m still learning, there’s a lot to learn here,” said Mr. Coulson.
With our community helping to support our academics we can make this a great place for Mr. Coulson’s first year as a Cardinal.
