New Staff: Cynthia Andrews
Story By: Micah Katzenmeier
Cynthia Andrews is new to the halls of Eudora High School, but many students have met her and her “be kind” stance. After several years at Eudora Middle School, Mrs. Andrews decided it was time for a new chapter in her life.
“We had moved to Colorado last year, but when I got there I realized – I miss Eudora, I miss my people. So, we moved back and when there was an opening that was available I realized I want to try high school. So becoming a reading specialist and looking at data was really interesting to me,” said Mrs. Andrews.
Now that she is at EHS, Mrs. Andrews has begun assisting in and instructing many classes. Mrs. Andrews works with many students in her day from Freshmen to Juniors.
“I have two hours of Freshman Orientation, which I call community class. We work on what I call life skills” Mrs. Andrews explained. “Then the next part of my day is supporting Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior ELA instructors.”
While Mrs. Andrews has always been firm about being kind, she has many beliefs and ideas that she believes will help students feel less stressed. She wants all students to make good decisions while realizing that most decisions made in a high school career are not permanent.
“Sometimes we get locked in by the ‘I can or I can’t so, the biggest thing I want high school kids to know is that you’re not locked into anything. You can make a decision at any time because your mind is that strong,” shared Mrs. Andrews.
Mrs. Andrews has experience in and knowledge of many ELA programs. She plans to use her knowledge to help as many students as she can with her time at Eudora.
