Eudora School District recently hired another SRO, Officer Fred Ramirez. A Former graduate of Washburn University, Ramirez received his Bachelor’s degree in 2003, and went on to become a police officer at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Even though it’s only his first year, Officer Ramirez is enjoying his time here so far.

“I like the people and the town size. It’s a good community,” Ramirez said.

While at work, Officer Ramirez likes to roam the halls and talk with the students and also check in on classrooms to see what the kids are learning about.

“I’ve noticed since I’ve been to the three different buildings that they’re three completely different places – but I’ve enjoyed talking to a bunch of the students,” Ramirez said.

Outside of school, Ramirez has two kids, a 9-and 13-year-old, who keep him busy with their sports. He also enjoys going to Royals games and playing sports that keep him occupied.

“If it’s a nice day out sometimes I like to go play frisbee golf to help me stay busy” Ramirez said.
