Study Habits of EHS Students

Story by Alexander Timmerman »

With the end of the semester coming up, students are bracing themselves for finals week. Some students do a large amount of studying for finals to make sure they get a high grade, but some students barely study for the finals at all.

Junior Xavier Seurer is one who does study for the finals. He typically begins studying shortly before finals begin.

“Probably like 3 days, and probably, everyday, I take an hour of study,” Seurer said.

Sophomore Brayden Clark said that he also plans to study for finals, but he admits that there are some classes that he doesn’t need to prepare for.

“Yes, I study for most of them,” Clark said.

Not all students study for the finals, however. Some students feel like they either have enough memorized to get a high enough grade, or don’t care enough about how much they’ll get on the finals to take the time to study.

EHS Biology teacher Joe Pickett would prefer to study in a quiet place if he was studying for finals.

“I prefer to be in a quiet place, no distractions, lots of desk space, notecards, and of course, quizlet,” Pickett said, “I think that more frequent shorter sessions would be more ideal, rather than one big long session.”

Senior Andrew Harmon admitted that he doesn’t study that often, but if he was in college, he says that would change.

“Yeah, quite a bit,” Harmon said.
