Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner
Story by Taylor Schmidt »
Whether you like your chicken crispy or grilled, spicy or original, there’s surely a chicken-themed restaurant in Lawrence for you. With eight different places popular for their poultry, there are many options to choose from. Students at EHS often disagree on which restaurant is the best place to get chicken.
Senior Kayla Hernandez believes that Chick-fil-A is the winner because of their amazing service and waffle fries.
“Chick-fil-A sauce is one of the best things I have ever tasted,” Hernandez said.
Although she does enjoy some of the other restaurants, Chick-fil-A is her first choice.
Fellow senior Ber’Shawn Le Flore agrees with Hernandez, and he even used to work at Chick-fil-A.
“I think Chick-fil-A is better – not only because I worked there – it’s because of the general food and taste and variety,” said Le Flore.
Le Flore currently works at Slim Chickens, which he also has positive things to say about because of the variety of items offered on the menu.
“I’m more variety, it beats just having chicken tenders on your menu like at Raising Cane’s,” Le Flore said.
Sophomore Riley Hiebert prefers Raising Cane’s chicken because of their fresh cooked chicken, specialty sauce, and Texas Toast.
“Cane’s is my favorite. I would eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I could,” Hiebert said.
Brayden Yoder-Mulkey would definitely agree with Hiebert.
“The coleslaw sucks, don’t get it,” Yoder-Mulkey said. “I’d like to say that I have over 20 visits on my Raising Cane’s Club card.”
According to a poll that 197 students at EHS answered, Raising Cane’s is EHS students’ favorite place to satisfy their chicken needs with 66 votes. Coming in a close second was Chick-fil-A, with 52 student votes.
Whether you agree or disagree, one thing is for certain: there are enough chicken restaurants in Lawrence for everyone.
