Facial hair facts
story by Kelby Dressler ≫
When it comes to facial hair, there are many ‘types’ a person can have. There’s a clean shaved face, short and long stubble, a full beard, goatee, mutton chops, the horseshoe, classic handlebar mustache and so many more.
“I think facial hair shows the personality of each individual,” said Weston Trefz, Jr.
It not only shows personality but allows a person to be identified easier . Some students may not recognize the name Mr. Paxton or Mr. Andrews as teachers at EHS. Hearing something such as “The EdTec teacher with the crazy facial hair” might be a little more clear.
Hagan Andrews, Soph., thinks that facial hair can be a good idea if someone can get the look his dad is going for.
“You can grow it only if it’s like my dad’s,” he said.
In an anonymous survey of 25 girls and boys here at EHS, some agree that facial hair is attractive, thirty-six percent to be exact. Forty-eight percent think a little scruff is okay. The other sixteen percent don’t like facial hair in general. Many girls state that they are OK with facial hair, but a majority also agreed that it really just depends on the person.
“I personally think it also depends on the guy,” said Holly Vesecky, Soph., “If they don’t have too much, I like that.”
Facial hair can have some benefits. It can block the sun’s rays from skin, and also not shaving every day can clear up a schedule for more important things in life. To some people it appears to make them look more masculine, older or even more attractive.
William Younkin, Jr., said,, “I mean, I personally think it looks alright. Like a nice beard, but mustaches aren’t my thing.”
Some people feel differently.
“Even something like scruff would be weird when you kiss, I say no facial hair,” said Alyssa Beckham, Frosh.
Similarly, Trace Abts, Sr., said, “I don’t get how you girls like the feel of guy’s facial hair. I felt Mitch’s beard one time and wanted to die from the scratchy feeling.”
Facial hair in some cases can get out of hand if not groomed properly. Conditioning and combing beards out every once in awhile might not be a bad idea.
“Yeah I would love to grow that stuff if I could, but to an extent,” said Abts.
