Prom updates

Students have expressed a desire for Prom to be held off campus. This year Prom will be held  at the Lawrence Country Club in their ballroom on April 22, 2017.

Amanda Garrison has only been the Junior Class representative and led the Prom Committee for two years. Planning and organization have been difficult this year. She also has been trying to  figure out  how to make as many students as possible happy while staying on budget.

Prom remains open to all Juniors and Seniors – that means no admission tickets to raise cash for the event. They work with dues and money which means they have to be frugal and sometimes this is a  priority but this doesn’t detract from the overall experience, whether at EHS or elsewhere.

“Mr. Abel has been very supportive and we were able to make it happen this year” Garrison said. “There are still some logistical elements we’re trying to work out but overall, I think it’s going to be a success in giving the EHS students a truly formal Prom experience.”

Parisian Masquerade will be the theme for this year’s prom. They are thinking one-half Paris theme and one-half masquerade.  Garrison thinks these were two really popular ideas for the last two years and, with input from the junior class officers, decided to combine them.

“I like the idea of prom being away if they can pull off the idea, but I hope we have a red carpet because I like how everyone can be in the spotlight for a moment,” said Savannah Newman, Sr.

Catherine Grosdidier, Jr. class officer, said that Prom will still include the red carpet, so be prepared to make your grand entrance at Prom 2017!
