The bell rings and you take your seat in the first class of the day, chemistry. You scan the room to see who else is in the room; a few friends, that one annoying girl who thinks you’re best friends, an old crush who avoided you all summer, and wait…who is that girl?! With 33 new kids enrolled in EHS, you’re bound to see an unfamiliar face this year. Among the plethora of fresh transfers, we chose 4 to highlight and interview.

Avery Rouser

Avery and his twin brother Jomain, both juniors, transferred from Bishop Seabury this year. “(moving to a new school) Is awkward at first but you get used to it very quickly,” Avery admitted. Coming from a private school to a public school can be an interesting transition, but the boys have adjusted well. They plan on playing basketball and are undecided about track.

Cameron Splichal

Cameron, a freshman, is used to being the new kid. Mr. Splichal, her father and Eudora’s new superintendent moved with his family from McLouth, a class 2A school. She’s participating in the dance team with interests in track, drama club, and SADD. “I was excited and thrilled to be moving here,” Cameron said, “I like that there are so many opportunities.”

LeAnne Anderson

“I moved from Hiawatha, KS. My dad is the new middle and high school band director,” LeAnne Anderson explained. Johnson attended Hiawatha schools for 12 years, so moving to a new school was hard, but she has adjusted well. Already involved in dance team and volleyball, LeAnne plans on participating in basketball, track, and a few clubs.

John Ortiz

A senior from Piper High School, John Ortiz moved to Eudora with his family when his dad got a new job here. Known as “Big John” to students, Ortiz is already a football star. Along with football, track is also on his radar. His favorite thing at EHS? “All the nice people.”  John’s sister, Olivia is a freshman here as well.
