Winter sports are out and spring sports have kicked off, including softball. The girls have worked hard to come out and play their first doubleheader. Coach Ty Pattison expects great things from the seniors that are leading this team and strategies toward their success include communication and leadership.

“I expect pitching to improve (which it has in the last games). I also want to increase our winning percentage and improve our competitiveness,” said Pattison.

The Lady Cards started their first doubleheader against Paola at home. The Panthers are a competitive softball team and the girls fell short losing both games 10-3 and 10-0.

The next game they would compete in, fell in their favor. They played against Anderson County on Thursday, April 4. The girls crushed the Bulldogs 13-3 and 10-0 in their doubleheader.

On April 9, the Lady Cards played against Louisburg in another doubleheader. In the first game, the girls were just short of a win losing 1-0. In the second game, they turned the tables on the Wildcats destroying them 19-8. Unfortunately, on Wednesday, April 10 game their game was canceled against St. James.

The most recent games include a Spring Hill game at home and a game at Baldwin. In the first Spring Hill game, the Cards were just short of winning, losing 8-7. They came back in the second, winning 2-0. At Baldwin the girls did the same thing, losing their first 7-6 and winning their second 7-1.

Last night, the girls, traveled to Santa Fe Trail for a doubleheader. In the first game, the Lady Cards had a short lead and kept it, winning 1-0. However, in the second game, they trailed behind and lost 6-1.

Lady Cards will play their next home games on May 7, senior night, against Desoto and also will be hosting regionals that start on May 13. This means that there should not be any excuse for the fans coming out to support the softball team. 🙂 Good luck in your next game ladies!
