Almost, Maine– a peculiar title for a play that provided a few members of the graduating class a last hurrah on the EHS stage. Senior play established itself as a tradition last year when the outgoing class performed their own student organized rendition of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie. After the show’s success, students in the grade beneath knew they were interested in continuing the new tradition.

Rehearsal began in mid February for the show that highlighted the cast’s dramatic abilities through a series of scenes all occurring simultaneously in the small town of Almost, Maine.  According to the director, Mr. Bova, “Every beautiful, sad, and funny thing that can happen between two people happens in our play. In our play, at 9:00 on a clear cool night — in just the blink of an eye — it feels like the entire universe smiles with you, and you know you’re alive.” The show highlighted the talents of both experienced actors as well as first timers eager to have their turn in the spotlight.

Cast member Travis Ray Salyers enjoyed the unusual rehearsal style of the play, “It hasn’t been like other plays we have done, it is more laid back especially since each scene is its own separate story so like different people can go on work on this and people are actually there and able to like sit and watch.” The one and only showing of Almost, Maine took place on April 20.
